I understand your point. Some people thrive on the competition piece and for others, striving for perfection can be draining.
You do raise an important aspect of leadership that is critical. Being real and authentic are key attributes for any leader. These are the traits that build trust and honest communication. Thanks for adding you 2 cents :)

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately many companies look for the quick fix and that rarely makes a lasting impact.

Great point, Beverly! Their focus on the "Big Picture" goal is amazing. And just like in leadership, falling down and making mistakes is normal. That's where growth and improvement thrive.

I also love the skating and watching them literally bounce back from a fall. Their focus is not on the mistake, or what they didn't do. Their focus is on the whole program and the 99% that is magnificent. Definitely a lesson for all of us - to focus on what we want! Beverly

Hello, Anita,

I think your comments here are very accurate. I've worked in many organizations, successful and less so. One of the hallmarks of the more effective ones was their willingness to stand back and analyze the situation when problems arose, and to seek help in this process if necessary.

When I watch the Olympics I'm turned off by the pressure to succeed, the quest for perfection. Yes it's nice to watch people who are great at what they do but I often wonder about the price we pay for our constant quest for success. Can't we just be who we are and enjoy what we do? Personally I'm kind of tired of trying to be a success, I'd rather just be real.

Just my 2 cents.
